Main Problems Reported
Several common problems that keep coming up in the reviews:
- Poor Management: Employees often say the managers are not good at their jobs.
- Low Pay: Employees feel they are paid too little for the work they do.
- Lack of Support: Employees say they don’t get enough help from management.
- Poor Work Culture: There is gossip and tension between staff members.
- High Staff Turnover: Many employees leave the company because of these problems.
What Employees Say (Examples)
Very negative comments:
- “The worst management I have ever come across working within this industry!”
- “There is total unprofessionalism on such an enormous scale.”
- “Most people leave because there is gossip and people stab each other in the back.”
Concerns about management:
- “Unless your face fits or you’re best friends with management, you won’t get anywhere in this company.”
- “Staff told to change notes as they don’t like how they have been written.”
- “If management make a mistake, it’s brushed under the carpet.”
Specific issues mentioned:
- Low pay compared to the work required.
- Working long hours.
- No respect for staff feelings and well-being.
- Staff treated poorly when they have problems.
- The company focuses more on making money than caring for people.
Pay Information
Several reviews mention concerns about pay:
- Support workers are paid about £13 per hour.
- The company charges social services around £30 per hour for the same work.
- This creates questions about how the company distributes the money they receive.
- Employees feel they are paid too little for the hard work they do.
What Employees Think About Clients
Despite the problems with management, many reviews say positive things about the clients. Employees often mention that the people they support are wonderful, and the relationships with clients are one of the best parts of the job. However, this positive experience with clients doesn’t seem to make up for the problems with the company overall.
What This Means
This combination is creating unhappiness amongst staff, high turnover (many employees leaving), negative reputation for the company and difficulties for the people being cared for.
Suggested Changes
Moorview Care should:
- Admit and fix problems: Be honest about the issues and work to solve them.
- Improve management: Train managers to be supportive, professional, and accountable.
- Pay fair wages: Ensure staff are paid enough for the work they do.
- Be transparent: Share information about staff surveys and improvement plans.
- Prioritise staff well-being: Make sure employees have good work-life balance.
How the Reviews Were Collected
The information comes from reviews posted on Indeed, a website where people share their work experiences.
I excluded all the five-star reviews because some were written by automated means, some were written during the onboarding (training) process, many appeared to be written by the same person, some were written by the management staff and my own negative experience made me not believe any overly positive reviews.
Overall
This shows through employee reviews that there are serious concerns about working at Moorview Care. Common issues include poor management, low pay, lack of support, and a difficult work culture. While employees generally have positive relationships with the clients they care for, these positive experiences don’t seem to be enough to make people happy with the company overall. This provides valuable information to help people make informed decisions about working for or using the services of Moorview Care.
