About Me
Hi! I’m Jessica. I’m AuDHD and I have a physical health condition called Chronic Progressive Widespread Pain Syndrome. You might be familiar with it’s “sister” condition Fibromyalgia. It’s a lot like that, except the progressive nature. It’s only going to get worse.
It’s meant that since 2016, I’ve needed a wheelchair to get around at any reasonable pace.
I am a bit of a data nerd, and I never felt like being AuDHD held me back in my professional life (but it did cause some issues), until my physical health became a problem and I needed support. Then it became a massive issue, because now I was dependent on other people, and couldn’t hide away from people when it all got too much. Needing the support and getting the support though, that’s an entirely different, but related mess!
I’ve always had a strong sense of justice and never liked wrongs being done to people. If you’re familiar with D&D alignments, ‘Chaotic Good’ describes me pretty well.
I build microcontroller projects in my spare time, I fix broken things, I code, I press buttons on things and I make music. I’ve got a degree. I used to run my own department (“Head Of Information Technology”) and then I had a go at running my own company before my health got bad and had to give it up.
A lot of care companies don’t seem to like it when you’re kinda smart, don’t accept just any old rubbish and want to be treated like you’re still kinda sorta human. I don’t think it’s too much to ask⦠but here we are.
