Moorview charged the local authority around £30 an hour for my care. They paid the people doing my support around £14 an hour. Did the company add over £15 of value? Even if we assume overheads and call it £10 an hour. Is that £10 an hour adding value to people’s lives, or is it just funding the higher-ups pockets?
When I pointed out flaws, where I thought what they were doing was wrong, they pretended to listen and actually did nothing. The values they claimed to represent, Respect, Trust, Be Kind, Learn? They learned nothing from me, because they didn’t want to. Their motivations are completely clear to me now. Profit. Especially with the Housing/Care double dip, although not applicable to my case, doing the research on The Spiders Web showed it’s an incredibly profitable venture.
Because you know, if someone has complex care needs, and the capacity to manage their own affairs? Well, you can hire your own member of staff and pay them £16 an hour, after tax if you become an employer. Moorview doesn’t profit, the people you work with would get a better wage and the local authority actually saves money.
Someone, please tell me what Moorview does isn’t wrong?
I’m just glad that all the people I’ve spoke to not only have believed me, but haven’t been able to accept how a company could do what it did. They’ve told me to keep pursuing. Keep being the voice. Even when it’s hard. So hard. And I am trying. I am keeping going. As much as I don’t like to admit it, I am smart and I need to.
I’ve at least two articles planned for the future, but I haven’t really felt like writing for a while. I’m in power save mode until I can work on my immediate problems… but was it about blame anyway? It’s always about lessons learned. 🫠
